Requirements for Social Work Workers from overseas must hold a social work degree, which allows them to practice as a qualified social worker. This can be a four-year degree in social work or a diploma in social work.
A Social Welfare degree is not recognised as a Social Work qualification. However, a worker in possession of a Social Welfare degree, or another related degree (such as Psychology), is eligible to work as an Assistant Social Worker, Care Manager Assistant, or Reviewing Officer.
The General Social Care Council (GSCC) is the body which verifies the status of the degree and a social worker should have a degree verified in order to practice as a qualified social worker in the UK. EM Recruitment will advise you on this process.
