You will hold either a degree or diploma in social work; this allows you to practice as a Qualified Social Worker. It is recommended that you register with the General Social Care Council (GSCC) before arrival to the UK, if not; assistance with the registration process is available. A police check is also required.
The GSCC is the body that verifies the status of your degree.
A Social Welfare degree is not recognised as a Social Work qualification. However, if you possess a Social Welfare degree or another related degree (such as Psychology), you are eligible to work as an Assistant Social Worker, Assistant Care Manager or Reviewing Officer.
