EM Recruitment are looking for a Qualified Teacher of EAL to begin Monday 30th October until the rest of the school year.
The teaching will be focussed mainly on EAL students in years 10 and 11 who have were new to English when they joined the school in year 9 or later. In particular the teacher will support students in the coursework and exam requirements of GCSE English. S/he will also be giving in-class class support for these students in maths and science.
The EAL students are very rewarding to work with and previous teachers in the department have greatly enjoyed the opportunity to develop their expertise in this field to the extent that they have decided to continue this work in the future. The students are very diverse in their previous educational experiences- they may be potential Oxbridge students or have never been to school before. They sometimes have difficult home circumstances and require extra pastoral support but they also have a burning desire to get the best education they can.
The person appointed will have the opportunity to work with the present postholder in order to ensure a secure and confident transition for both teacher and students. In addition s/he will also be able to attend appropriate professional development courses and can expect to be well supported by the department and other colleagues.
